Christmas Butter Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Prairie Farms Salted Butter softened
  • 1/4 Cup Prairie Farms Cream Cheese softened
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 2 2/3 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 tsp Almond Extract
  • Red, Green, Yellow Food Coloring (optional)

Garnish

  • Holiday Colored Sprinkles, Jimmies or Sugars

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Farenheit.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese and sugar until blended.
  • Blend in salt, egg and almond extract. Add flour slowly, blending until fully incorporated.
  • If desired, divide dough into three bowls, and add red, green or yellow food coloring to make cookies festive colors. Mix in coloring until the desired shade is reached.
  • Spoon dough into a cookie press featuring your favorite shape attachment; swirls, trees, stars, etc. Attach the top and twist or press depending on model, to press cookies onto an un-greased cookie sheet pan. Sprinkle each with holiday jimmies or candies.
  • Bake approximately 5-8 minutes, or just until the bottom edges are just slightly brown. Don't over bake. Let cool slightly on sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
