In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese and sugar until blended.
Blend in salt, egg and almond extract. Add flour slowly, blending until fully incorporated.
If desired, divide dough into three bowls, and add red, green or yellow food coloring to make cookies festive colors. Mix in coloring until the desired shade is reached.
Spoon dough into a cookie press featuring your favorite shape attachment; swirls, trees, stars, etc. Attach the top and twist or press depending on model, to press cookies onto an un-greased cookie sheet pan. Sprinkle each with holiday jimmies or candies.
Bake approximately 5-8 minutes, or just until the bottom edges are just slightly brown. Don't over bake. Let cool slightly on sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
